Who doesn’t like great views of city skylines? One of the best in the world can be seen from the top of London’s Shard.
I won lunch in the building after entering a competition a year ago and with the deadline to use it approaching, I quickly made a booking to make sure we didn’t miss out on the experience.
We made a weekend of it and dining in the Oblix restaurant was a huge highlight!
We had butterflies as we entered the lift and very quickly travelled to the 32nd floor of the Shard. Walking into the restaurant, our breath was immediately taken away by the amazing view. It was a clear day so we could see for miles.
We unfortunately didn’t have a table right next to the window, but that was a good thing in a way as we would have spent all our time looking out rather than enjoying what proved to be a delicious meal.
The food was glorious with my sea bass to die for! The perception about high end restaurants is that the portions are small but that isn’t the case for Oblix. They are more than adequate and the friendly staff were very accommodating for our little one.
A few months ago Nina had a go at making the rather unusual basil ice cream. It was delicious! Imagine our delight when we discovered it was on the menu at Oblix. Guess what we had for a pudding!
After lunch we continued the celebrations with a few glasses of bubbly in the lounge bar next door.
We were sad to leave the Shard as we returned to terre ferme, but we’ll be going back soon and we urge you to visit too!
