As you may have noticed from our tweets we’re helping to organise a brand new event, the Bristol Sausage and Cider Festival, and we are soooooooooooooo excited!
Serial festival organiser Crispin Slee is the creator of the extravaganza and he’ll be bringing ciders from across the West Country and beyond to the Passenger Shed at Bristol Temple Meads on 5 and 6 August.
We’ll also have two local sausage providers, Sausagenius and Buckland Venison, plus two Bristol brilliant bands, the Rin Tins and the Crinkle Cuts, and top DJ, Waggles, to entertain the crowds.
With just over a month to go we thought we’d give some of Bristol’s top bloggers a chance to sample some of the goodies that will be on offer in August so we organised a taster evening. As the festival is all about fun we needed a venue to match. The wonderful Playground Coffee House complete with swinging seats ticked that box!
Crispin assembled a selection of tasty ciders and our guests, Gina Jones from Bristol Fashionista; Grace from Girl In Bristol; food writer and teacher Jenny Chandler; Robert Buckland from Bristol Business News and Gail Bowen-Huggett from Ujima Radio, all very enthusiastically had more than a few tipples!
Saxby’s Rhubard Cider and Kentish Pip’s Wild Elderflower Cider proved particularly popular and we predict they will be a bit hit at the festival itself. Our bloggers were also brave enough to taste the 14% Appley Ever After!
Then it was time for the sausages!
Steve Brand from Buckland Venison had a stall at the nearby St Nicholas Market and he popped in three times with a tray of freshly cooked meaty treats for our guests. Boy, did they go down well!!
The lively chatter was silenced as the tasters joyously tucked into flavours including venison and whisky, a specially created recipe for our festival.
After a few more swings, a couple more glasses of cider and the final pieces of sausage consumed, it was time for our bloggers to head home, all with that swagger and smile that good cider brings!
Hundreds of tickets have already been bought for the Bristol Sausage and Cider Festival so if you want to sample what our bloggers enjoyed, book now!
You can also let us know you’re coming on our Facebook event page and via Twitter.
See you at the festival!
BIG THANK YOU to Lilly and Fabian at Playground Coffee House for making us feel so welcome!
