How many times have you wandered through a gallery and wanted to buy the art? We have loads of times but our funds don’t stretch that far!
We might just have found the solution though.
The Other Art Fair, running this weekend in Bristol, showcases top artists at affordable prices. We were invited to the private preview last night and popped down to the Arnolfini modern art gallery to check it out.
Every possible space is filled with artistic treats and every format is catered for. Sculpture, photography, taxidermy, oil paintings; you name it, the Other Art Fair has it!
It’s very hard to pick our favourites among the 80 artists but if we really have to, highlights include Alexander Korzer-Robinson and his gorgeous book sculptures and cut book art, Bridget Davies‘ delicate water colours and Claire Newman-Williams‘ impressive photography light boxes as well as Daniel McGirr‘s hand drawn pictures and Elle Kaye & Simon Wilson‘s taxidermy art.
On the top floor of Arnolfini is a very 2016 kind of exhibition. On the walls are printed out Instagram images taken by members of the #IgersBristol community. We’re regulars in that hashtag www.instagram.com/lstyledistrict so it was great to see social media in a traditional setting. It was also wonderful to finally meet @leilaa81, who we’ve known for a ages on Instagram but have never actually met in real life, and catch up with @porthjess, one of the brains behind #IgersBristol.
The Other Art Fair is an art lovers’ delight and it’s lovely to see such great work in unpretentious and accessible surroundings. The event runs until tomorrow (24 July) so check it out!
