Tonight we had the pleasure to discover an exciting new restaurant at the freshly refurbished Avon Gorge Hotel by Hotel du Vin. Set in Bristol’s smartest area of Clifton Village the hotel is surrounded by smart Victorian houses. With its giant bay windows overlooking the terrace that offers the best view over the Suspension Bridge, the establishment is sure to be a hit!
We were delighted to take a tour to visit some of the gorgeous new rooms. Full of rich emerald greens, teal and warm ochres tones, and wooden furniture, the hotel which first opened as the Grand Clifton Spa and Hydropathic Institution in 1898 is a real treat for interior and architecture lovers.
Clues from its former past are dotted around and some were revealed during the work such as the beautiful stained window in the stair case leading to the basement area, now a super bar and restaurants area which can be turned into a fabulous space for corporate events and wedding celebrations. Scroll through our pictures below to discover the beautiful tiles and the doors to the hammam, now serving as a wine cellar packed with delicious wines.
We happily joined the other lucky guests who tucked into some delicious seafood, cheese and meat (for the carnivores amongst us) platters prepared by Bristol businesses, washed down with local beers and lovely cocktails by the talented people at Bird and Blend.
The menu at the Avon Gorge Hotel’s restaurant seems like the perfect match for meat lovers but as vegetarians we hope to be able to taste the meat-free alternative and report on it very soon! Stay tuned.
Thank you to Plaster PR and the team at the Avon Gorge Hotel for having us. Book a room/ a table here.
