Looking for the best walks around Bath? Have you ever walked or circled along the Bath Two Tunnels Circuit? We decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the good city of Bath and booked an AirBnB 15 minutes from the centre. We really wanted to relax, have no place to be at and just spend some quality time just the two of us. So it seemed like a good idea to try escape the city for a nice walk. We found a local guide book in the apartment which mentioned the Bath Two Tunnels and we were sold.
You can start at any point of this circular route and the path is wide enough for cyclists and walkers alike. It was lovely to travel along the greenery and the Tucker Mill Viaduct. The Combe Down Tunnel, the longest of the two with its 1672 metres didn’t disappoint and we felt like explorers while the darkness was closing down on us. While our eyes were getting used to the dimness, soon enough we heard some classical music and were delighted to discover the light and sound art installations entitled ‘Passage‘.
We even got a glimpse of Midford Castle, an 18th century Grade II Listed property which belonged to Hollywood actor Nicholas Cage for a few years.
The walk is an easy one but still, we rewarded ourselves with a nice pint at the lovely Hope and Anchor pub.
